Young Africans complete move for Oumar Comara as Manqoba Mngqithi reunites with former PSL defender

Young Africans SC have completed the signing of former Golden Arrows defender Oumar Comara, giving head coach Manqoba Mngqithi another familiar face at the Tanzanian champions.

The transfer was confirmed on Tuesday after Comara passed a routine medical, with Young Africans SC having agreed a fee with Golden Arrows for the 25-year-old.

Comara becomes the second former Premier Soccer League player to join Mngqithi at Yanga during the current recruitment drive. Peter Shalulile was previously unveiled by the club after moving as a free agent.

The defender spent last season working under Mngqithi at Golden Arrows, making 19 appearances for the club. His move to Young Africans SC now reunites him with the coach in Tanzania, while also bringing an end to his time with the South African side.

Comara joined Golden Arrows from FC San Pedro in 2025. Before arriving in South Africa, he had played in Morocco for MAS Fes and FUS Rabat.

His career began in the academy system at ASEC Mimosas, where he first emerged before moving on to experience football in several different countries. The switch to Young Africans SC represents the latest stage of that progression and takes him to the reigning champions of Tanzania.

Golden Arrows have already made preparations for his departure, with Eroine Agnikoi of Marumo Gallants lined up as his replacement. Comara’s exit therefore forms part of a reshaped defensive picture at the South African club.

For Young Africans SC, the signing adds a player who is already familiar with Mngqithi’s methods and has recent experience of the Betway Premiership. It also continues the club’s recruitment of established talent from the PSL, following Shalulile’s arrival.

Comara’s unveiling completes the formal stages of the move after the two clubs reached an agreement over the transfer fee. His medical was the final requirement before the Tanzanian champions could officially present him as their latest signing.

Mngqithi can now count on another former PSL player in his squad, with Comara joining Shalulile as the latest player to make the move to Yanga after working in South Africa.
