Al-Ahly bring in DR Congo winger Glody Lilepo from Kaizer Chiefs

DR Congo winger Glody Lilepo has joined Libyan Premier League side Al-Ahly from South African club Kaizer Chiefs, completing his latest move on 3 August 2026.

The 29-year-old right winger arrives after 18 months with Kaizer Chiefs, having moved to the Betway Premiership club from French side Valenciennes in January 2025. That transfer was completed for €500,000.

Lilepo spent the 2025-26 season with Kaizer Chiefs before switching to Al-Ahly, where he will continue his career in the Libyan Premier League. He becomes the latest player to make the move after a spell in South Africa.

Born in Kinshasa, Lilepo represents DR Congo and plays primarily on the right side of attack. He is right-footed and stands 1.85m tall.

Before joining Kaizer Chiefs, Lilepo had a spell in France with Valenciennes, having moved there from Al-Hilal in August 2023 for €478,000. His time with Al-Hilal followed a transfer from Congolese club AS Vita Club in August 2022 for €200,000.

Lilepo first joined AS Vita Club from OC Renaissance in July 2020 on a free transfer. He had previously represented AS Vita Club during a loan spell at Eswatini club Mbabane Swallows in the 2018-19 season, before returning to the Congolese side when that loan ended.

His move to Al-Ahly continues a sequence of transfers across leagues in Africa and Europe since his first senior club changes. He has now played for clubs in DR Congo, Eswatini, Saudi Arabia, France and South Africa.

Al-Ahly have added Lilepo to their squad ahead of his new chapter in Libya, with the DR Congo international leaving Kaizer Chiefs after his spell at the Johannesburg club. The transfer was completed on 3 August 2026.
