Marseille explore deal for Freiburg keeper Noah Atubolu as 2027 contract looms

Germany-Nigeria goalkeeper Noah Atubolu could leave Freiburg for Marseille, with the Ligue 1 club linked with a move for the 24-year-old ahead of the 2026-27 season.

Atubolu remains under contract with the Bundesliga club until 30 June 2027, meaning Marseille would need to negotiate a transfer rather than wait for the goalkeeper to become a free agent. His current market value is listed at €25m.

Born in Freiburg im Breisgau, Atubolu has spent his career with the club. He joined Freiburg’s youth system from Freiburger FC in 2015 and progressed through the under-17 and under-19 teams before moving to Freiburg II in 2020. He stepped up to the senior Freiburg side in July 2021.

The goalkeeper was part of the Freiburg team that finished runners-up in the German Cup in the 2021-22 season and has also been recognised internationally, winning the Fritz Walter Bronze medal with Germany in 2023.

A move to Marseille would take Atubolu from the Bundesliga to Ligue 1, but there has been no confirmation that the clubs have reached an agreement or that negotiations have advanced. For now, he remains a Freiburg player with one year left on his current contract after the 2026-27 campaign begins.
