Herve Koffi joins Union SG after Belgian Super Cup success

Union SG have strengthened their squad ahead of the new season by signing Burkina Faso international goalkeeper Herve Koffi.

The Belgian club confirmed the arrival of Koffi as they continue to celebrate Friday’s victory over Club Brugge in the Belgian Super Cup. The triumph gave Union SG their first trophy of the campaign and provided an early boost before the new season begins.

Koffi becomes the latest African player to join the Union SG squad, linking up with Mofokeng at the club. His signing adds further depth in goal as Union prepare for the challenges ahead following their success against Club Brugge.

The Burkina Faso international said he was delighted to complete the move and described Union as a club with a strong sense of unity.

“I am very happy and proud to become a Union player today. I have played against the club several times in the past and it always felt like a real family to me,” Koffi told the club’s official website.

“I’m delighted to now be part of that family. This is a club with a wonderful history, but also an impressive story over the past few years. That really motivates me and I hope I can make my own contribution here.

“Union is the right step in my career at this moment. I don’t want to skip any steps and I know there is still a lot for me to learn. At the same time, I have gained valuable experience over the years, and I hope to share that with my teammates as well.”

Koffi said Union SG represented the appropriate next move in his career, while acknowledging that he still has more to develop. He also believes the experience he has built up over the years can benefit the squad as he begins his time in Belgium.

The goalkeeper has faced Union SG several times in the past, and those encounters helped shape his impression of the club. He said the team’s family atmosphere was evident even before he became a Union player.

His arrival comes at a positive moment for Union SG, who secured the Belgian Super Cup by beating Club Brugge on Friday. The club will now look to carry that momentum into the new season, with Koffi joining a squad that already includes Mofokeng.

Union SG’s recent progress was also highlighted by Koffi, who pointed to the club’s history as well as its impressive story over the past few years. He said that development had motivated him to accept the opportunity and make his own contribution.

The Burkina Faso international will now begin the next stage of his career with Union SG, having joined a side fresh from lifting the Belgian Super Cup.
