Al-Nassr close in on Samu Costa as Mallorca midfielder travels for medical

Al-Nassr are expected to announce their first signing of the summer transfer window within the next 48 hours after Samu Costa travelled from Spain to Riyadh to complete his medical.

The Portuguese midfielder was pictured at Mallorca Airport preparing to board a flight to Saudi Arabia, according to Spanish radio station Cadena SER. His journey is the latest indication that his move from Real Mallorca to Al-Nassr is close to completion.

An agreement has reportedly been reached between all parties, with only the formal procedures, medical examination and signing of the final contracts remaining before the transfer can be confirmed.

Costa, who currently plays for Real Mallorca, told Cadena SER that he had reached a comprehensive agreement with Al-Nassr over the move. The 25-year-old said the financial terms, contract length and additional clauses had all been settled.

The midfielder added that the transfer was now dependent only on the remaining official steps and the medical, which are expected to be completed after his arrival in Riyadh.

Cadena SER published an exclusive image of Costa at Mallorca Airport as he prepared to travel to the Saudi capital. The picture was presented as further evidence that Al-Nassr are preparing to make the deal official in the coming hours.

The move would make Costa Al-Nassr’s first addition of the current summer window and the fourth professional club of his career.

Costa has made 108 official appearances for Real Mallorca in domestic and continental competitions since joining the club. During that time, he has established himself as an important part of the team’s midfield and has attracted attention for his technical ability and physical qualities.

Before moving to Mallorca, the Portugal international played for Spanish club Almeria and Portuguese side Sporting Braga. He subsequently became one of Mallorca’s main midfield figures.
