FC Nordsjaelland end pursuit of Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir after failed offer

FC Nordsjælland have reportedly withdrawn from the race to sign Al Ahly goalkeeper Mostafa Shobeir after their approach failed to meet the Egyptian giants’ financial expectations.

The Danish Superliga club had explored the possibility of bringing the 26-year-old shot-stopper to Denmark and held discussions through his representatives. However, their proposal was rejected by Al Ahly, who made it clear that they are not prepared to lose the goalkeeper on the terms presented.

The Cairo giants are believed to have turned down Nordsjaelland’s offer because of the financial package involved, which was reportedly in the region of $500,000 to $600,000. Al Ahly consider the valuation insufficient, especially given Shobeir’s growing importance within the squad.

The goalkeeper has developed into Al Ahly’s first-choice option between the posts and has earned the confidence of the technical staff following his impressive performances. As a result, the club are keen to secure his long-term future and prevent him from entering the final stage of his contract.

Shobeir’s current deal with Al Ahly runs until June 2027, meaning he would be free to negotiate with other clubs from January if no agreement is reached over an extension.

To avoid that situation, Al Ahly have offered the goalkeeper a new three-year contract, with improved financial terms expected to reflect his status as the club’s leading goalkeeper.

The player has also recently made changes to his representation, appointing UK-based agency CAA Base to handle his career affairs as he evaluates his next steps.

For now, Shobeir remains an Al Ahly player, with the club determined to keep him unless another team submits an offer that matches their valuation before the transfer window closes.

FC Nordsjaelland’s interest in Shobeir comes after their recent dealings with Egyptian football, having made the move for Ibrahim Adel permanent following his loan spell. The Danish club activated the purchase option for the winger, who signed a contract until June 2029.

Despite Nordsjaelland’s decision to step away from negotiations, Shobeir’s future could still attract attention, especially with clubs monitoring his progress and his contract situation at Al Ahly yet to be fully resolved.
