Souleymane Faye: Senegal winger joins FC Lorient from Sporting on loan

Senegalese winger Souleymane Faye has joined French club FC Lorient from Sporting on loan, completing a move that keeps the 23-year-old in Ligue 1 until 30 June 2027.

Faye, who plays on the right wing and favours his right foot, arrives in France after a short spell with Sporting. He moved to the Portuguese club from Granada CF on 21 January 2026 in a deal worth €6.3m.

The transfer marks another step in a career that has taken Faye through clubs in Spain, Portugal and Senegal. Before joining Sporting, he spent time with Granada and Betis Deportivo, while his earlier senior career included spells at CF Talavera and Galaxy Dakar.

Faye made 36 appearances in Primera Federacion Group II, scoring nine goals and providing four assists. He also has experience in LaLiga2, where he recorded two goals and six assists in 19 appearances.

The 1.79m winger began his European club career with CF Talavera after moving from Galaxy Dakar in September 2022. His first move to Spain followed a loan spell at Recre Granada earlier that year.

Faye also has an international honour to his name, having been part of the Senegal Under-20 side that won the Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.

Lorient’s new signing joins with a market value of €3m and a contract record running through June 2027. The move brings him back to France’s top division following his recent switch to Sporting in Portugal.

Faye has now completed his loan transfer from Sporting to FC Lorient.
