Ipswich linked with Burnley midfielder Florentino after permanent move

Portuguese midfielder Florentino, currently at Burnley, is being linked with a move to Ipswich as the Premier League club considers a possible deal for the 26-year-old.

Florentino joined Burnley permanently from Benfica on 1 July after spending the 2025-26 season at the club on loan. The transfer was completed for a reported €24m, with Burnley now competing in the Championship following their relegation from the Premier League.

The defensive midfielder made 31 Premier League appearances during his loan spell, providing two assists. He had previously spent most of his senior career with Benfica, making 113 appearances in Liga Portugal and winning the Portuguese title twice.

Florentino also had loan spells with Monaco and Getafe before returning to Benfica, where he won the Portuguese league cup in 2024-25. He was part of the Benfica side that won the Portuguese Super Cup in 2026 before moving to Burnley on a permanent basis.

Ipswich, who are listed as a Premier League club for the 2026-27 season, are now linked with the player less than five weeks after his permanent transfer to Burnley. Florentino’s current market value is listed at €16m, below the fee Burnley paid Benfica.

No agreement has been confirmed, and the reported interest comes with Florentino only recently beginning his permanent spell at Burnley.
