Leipzig linked with Sunderland winger Chemsdine Talbi

Chemsdine Talbi, the Moroccan-Belgian winger at Sunderland, has been linked with a move to Bundesliga side Leipzig.

The 21-year-old joined Sunderland from Club Brugge in July 2025 in a €20m deal and is valued at €25m. He is under contract with the Premier League club until 30 June 2030.

Talbi made 28 Premier League appearances for Sunderland, scoring four goals and providing two assists. The right winger had previously established himself at Club Brugge, where he won the Belgian title in the 2023-24 season and the Belgian Cup in 2025.

He also won the Africa Cup of Nations with Morocco in 2025.

The reported interest from Leipzig comes after Talbi’s first season in English football, following his move from Belgium. His contract length means Sunderland are under no immediate pressure to sell, while his increased valuation could shape any potential negotiations.

Talbi began his development in Belgium with Tubize before joining Club Brugge’s academy in 2015. He progressed through Club Brugge’s youth structure and Club NXT before making the move to Sunderland.

There is no indication that a transfer has been agreed, with Talbi remaining a Sunderland player and contracted to the club through to 2030.
