Emile Witbooi linked with Bayern Munich Under-19 move

South African teenager Emile Witbooi is being linked with a move from Cape Town City to Bayern Munich Under-19, with the German club’s youth side listed as his reported destination.

Witbooi, 17, plays as an attacking midfielder and has been part of Cape Town City’s senior set-up since joining from the club’s reserve team in August 2024.

He has made nine recorded senior appearances for Cape Town City, including five in the Premiership promotion-relegation play-offs, three in the Betway Premiership and one in the Nedbank Cup. His appearances have amounted to 274 minutes, although he has not registered a goal in those matches.

The reported move would take Witbooi to Bayern’s Under-19 team, which competes in the U19 Nachwuchsliga. The rumour places him at the beginning of a potential move into European football, but there has been no confirmation of an agreement or transfer from either club.

Witbooi was born in Kimberley in South Africa’s Northern Cape and represents South Africa at club level through Cape Town City. He joined the club’s reserve side from the Transnet School of Excellence in January 2024 before moving into the senior structure later that year.

He remains a Cape Town City player, with the reported Bayern interest coming while he continues to develop within the South African club’s first-team environment.
