Yassine Bounou favors Al Hilal stay despite Juventus interest
Morocco goalkeeper reportedly prefers to remain in Saudi Arabia as transfer speculation continues
Morocco international Yassine Bounou is reportedly leaning towards staying with Al Hilal despite interest from Juventus, with the goalkeeper understood to favour remaining in Saudi Arabia rather than returning to European football.
The Atlas Lions goalkeeper has been linked with the Italian club during the summer transfer window, but current indications suggest he intends to continue his career with Al Hilal, where he remains under contract until 2028.
According to reports relayed by Foot Mercato and Hespress, Juventus identified Bounou as a candidate to strengthen their goalkeeping department and were prepared to offer him a two-year contract.
However, despite the reported interest from Turin, the Moroccan international is said to have made stability his priority after spending three seasons in Riyadh.
Juventus reportedly explored move for experienced goalkeeper
Juventus are understood to have considered a move for Bounou as they looked to reinforce their options between the posts.
According to the reports, an offer of around €9 million was being considered in an attempt to convince Al Hilal to part with the goalkeeper.
Bounou remains under contract with the Saudi club until 2028, making any transfer dependent on an agreement between the two clubs.
Hespress reported that Juventus viewed the Moroccan international as a credible solution for their goalkeeping position, but negotiations have not progressed beyond speculation.
At this stage, there has been no official confirmation of an agreement involving Juventus, Al Hilal or the player.
Goalkeeper reportedly values stability
Despite the interest from one of Italy’s biggest clubs, Bounou is reportedly inclined to continue his spell with Al Hilal.
The goalkeeper is said to value continuity and wishes to honour the remainder of his contract, having established himself as an important member of the Saudi club’s squad.
His reported preference reflects a desire to maintain stability rather than pursue another move during the current transfer window.
That stance has emerged even as transfer speculation surrounding his future has continued in recent weeks.
Reports suggested concerns over future role
Bounou’s future has generated considerable discussion following reports of uncertainty regarding his role at Al Hilal.
According to those reports, the club was considering using the goalkeeper mainly in AFC Champions League matches.
The Moroccan international was said to be unhappy with that possibility, preferring to continue playing regularly in order to remain at his highest level, particularly with upcoming commitments involving the Morocco national team.
Those reports added another layer to speculation surrounding his future, although there has been no official confirmation from any of the parties involved.
For now, the situation remains based on transfer reports rather than a completed agreement.
Current indications suggest Bounou is leaning towards staying with Al Hilal, despite Juventus’ reported interest and the possibility of a return to European football.
