Moroccan giants begin negotiations with Comoros international over free transfer

Wydad Athletic Club have opened negotiations with Comoros international Myziane Maolida as the Moroccan side looks to strengthen its attacking options during the summer transfer window.

The Casablanca club has identified the 27-year-old forward as one of its transfer targets and has already started discussions over a possible agreement.

Maolida is currently available as a free agent following the end of his contract with Saudi Arabian side Al Kholood FC, allowing Wydad to pursue the deal without paying a transfer fee.

The move forms part of the club’s efforts to reinforce its attacking department with a player capable of adding pace, versatility and finishing quality in the final third.

Wydad hoping to reach agreement

Talks between the different parties are already underway as Wydad attempts to secure the services of the experienced attacker.

Club officials are working towards reaching an agreement on the terms of the player’s contract, with negotiations continuing as both sides explore the possibility of completing the move.

Maolida’s profile is understood to be highly regarded by the coaching staff, who believe his ability to operate in different attacking positions would strengthen the squad.

Maolida has accumulated experience in several countries since beginning his professional career.

Developed at Olympique Lyonnais, he later joined OGC Nice before moving to Germany to play for Hertha Berlin.

His career also included spells with Stade de Reims in France and Scottish club Hibernian before he continued his journey in the Saudi Pro League with Al Kholood.

Alongside his club career, the forward has become one of the most experienced members of the Comoros national team.

His experience at both domestic and international level is among the qualities that have attracted Wydad’s interest.

Productive campaign despite limited appearances

During his most recent season with Al Kholood, Maolida made 13 appearances in all competitions.

Despite his limited playing time, he contributed four goals and four assists, highlighting his ability to make an impact in attacking areas.

Those performances maintained interest in the forward after previous reports linked him with Al Ahli SC and Al Shabab during last summer’s transfer window.

Wydad now hopes those qualities can be added to its own squad as negotiations continue.

If the discussions end successfully, the Casablanca club will secure the signing of an experienced free agent with a background in European football and international experience with Comoros.
