Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha set for RS Berkane after Colo Colo move collapses

Cape Verde international goalkeeper Vozinha is set to join Moroccan side RS Berkane after his proposed move to Chilean club Colo Colo collapsed in an unexpected turn of events.

The 40-year-old, who attracted widespread attention with his performances at the FIFA World Cup, had been expected to continue his career in Chile after Colo Colo moved to secure his signature. However, the transfer has now been cancelled, paving the way for a switch to Morocco.

The development comes as a surprise after Colo Colo had publicly indicated that the deal was close to completion.

Club president Aníbal Mosa had recently expressed confidence that the experienced goalkeeper would soon arrive in Chile to undergo a medical examination before completing the transfer.

The Chilean club also published a confirmation of the move on its official Instagram account, signalling that the agreement was progressing as planned.

Despite those developments, the transfer failed to materialise.

According to the Brazilian newspaper Globo, RS Berkane intervened before the deal could be completed and succeeded in convincing the free-agent goalkeeper to consider a move to the Moroccan club instead.

The report states that the Moroccan side effectively hijacked the transfer before Vozinha travelled to Chile.

Negotiations between RS Berkane and the goalkeeper’s representatives are now focused on completing the remaining details of the agreement.

The Cape Verde international ultimately did not make the journey to Chile, with discussions instead continuing over a move to the Moroccan runners-up.

For RS Berkane, the potential arrival of an experienced goalkeeper would strengthen the squad ahead of the new season, while Vozinha would embark on a new chapter after the unexpected collapse of his anticipated move to South America.

With the transfer to Colo Colo now officially abandoned, all attention has shifted to Morocco, where the final stages of negotiations are expected to determine whether Vozinha completes his move to RS Berkane in the coming days.
