Golden Arrows sign Sifiso Mazibuko to strengthen attack

Golden Arrows have agreed a deal to sign winger Sifiso Mazibuko as they prepare for the start of the 2026/27 season.

The 22-year-old spent last season with University of Pretoria, who compete in the second tier of South African football, but will now return to the top flight with Abafana Bes’thende.

A source at Golden Arrows confirmed the move to Soccer Laduma, saying: “It’s a done deal,” said a source at the club. “They will make an announcement soon.”

Golden Arrows have not responded to questions about the signing. However, the source said the club was pleased to have secured a player regarded as an exciting attacking prospect.

Mazibuko joined AmaTuks for the 2025/26 campaign after leaving Chippa United. His representatives, P Management, recently announced that he had departed the Tshwane-based club.

The move to Golden Arrows gives Mazibuko the opportunity to continue his career in the Premiership after one season playing in the division below. He is expected to add further pace and width to an Arrows squad that has been active in the transfer market.

The Durban club have continued their practice of recruiting players from South Africa’s lower divisions, with Phabonke Mbatha and Siphesihle Buthelezi arriving from Mpumalanga-based side The Bees.

Midfielder Keabetswe Rakosa has also joined from Upington City, while forward Ronaldo Van Neel has moved to Golden Arrows from Hungry Lions.

The club have further strengthened their options out wide with the signing of Gcina Nkosi from Phezulu FC, an ABC Motsepe League team based in Mpumalanga.

Those additions underline Golden Arrows’ willingness to look beyond the Premiership for new talent as they assemble their squad for the campaign ahead. Mazibuko’s arrival is the latest move to be confirmed, although the club has yet to formally announce the winger’s signing.

Golden Arrows begin their new league season at home against Chippa United on Saturday. The match will be played at King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium.

They will then switch focus to the MTN8, facing Kaizer Chiefs in a quarter-final tie next weekend. The fixtures will give Golden Arrows an early opportunity to assess a squad that includes several new arrivals and to begin their campaign in both domestic competitions.
