Tumelo Mayisa joins Orbit College after top-flight trial spells

Tumelo “Rashford” Mayisa has reportedly signed for Orbit College FC after a period of uncertainty that saw the 21-year-old striker train with several clubs, including Sekhukhune United and Magesi FC.

Mayisa will join the Mswenko Boys from The Bees FC and has been handed the number 10 shirt, according to an insider close to the player.

The move places Mayisa with Orbit College FC, who will compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship after being relegated from the Betway Premiership following their first season in South Africa’s top flight.

The player had previously been linked with Golden Arrows and later spent time training at Sekhukhune United. He also worked with Magesi FC, but those spells did not result in a confirmed move before Orbit College FC completed the deal.

An insider told Soccer Laduma that The Bees FC had now issued Mayisa’s clearance, allowing the forward to join his new club.

Mayisa’s next chapter comes after he was connected with a number of clubs during the current movement period. His name first emerged in connection with Golden Arrows before his training opportunities with Sekhukhune United and Magesi FC.

Although those clubs considered the striker during his search for a new destination, it is Orbit College FC who appear to have secured his services. The club’s decision to give him the number 10 shirt indicates the role expected of him, although no further details about the length or financial terms of the agreement have been provided.

Orbit College FC’s relegation means the club will now return to the Motsepe Foundation Championship after only one campaign in the Betway Premiership. For Mayisa, the move offers the opportunity to establish himself at a club that has already committed to him after his time with The Bees FC.

The striker’s arrival also brings an end, at least for now, to the uncertainty created by his training spells with several sides. With his clearance completed and his squad number allocated, Mayisa is now expected to continue his career with Orbit College FC.
