Celta Vigo signs Senegal youngster Abdoulaye Faye on loan from Bayer Leverkusen

Senegalese defender Abdoulaye Faye has officially completed a loan move to Spanish La Liga club Celta Vigo from German Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen, taking another important step in his rapidly developing European career.

The 21-year-old centre-back will spend the 2026/27 season in Spain after both clubs reached a full agreement for a one-year loan deal. Notably, the arrangement does not include an option to buy, underlining Bayer Leverkusen’s belief in the player’s long-term potential and their intention to retain control over his future.

According to reports, all negotiations between the two clubs were successfully concluded before Faye underwent and passed his medical examinations. The Senegalese defender subsequently signed the necessary documents to formalize the transfer and begin his new adventure in La Liga.

The move provides Faye with an opportunity to gain valuable experience in one of Europe’s most technically demanding leagues while continuing his development under competitive conditions.
