Malick Fofana enters RB Leipzig shortlist

Malick Fofana is back on the transfer radar, with RB Leipzig adding the Lyon winger to their shortlist for this summer.

After a stop-start season disrupted by injury, the Belgian talent is no longer drawing the same frenzy he did a year ago, but his name still carries weight in Europe.

The 21-year-old managed only 16 appearances for Lyon, producing two goals and one assist. An ankle injury in October 2025 kept him out until March, and even after his return he was not fully fit, which naturally slowed his momentum.

Leipzig are looking for a replacement if Yan Diomande leaves, and the German club are also planning for possible departures on the wings. Bild says Fofana is one of five attacking options under consideration, alongside Francisco Conceicao, Paul Nebel, Tyler Dibling and Said El Mala.

For Leipzig, the Belgian may now be one of the more realistic targets. El Mala is seen as too expensive, Dibling joined Everton for 40 million euros last year, Nebel is uncertain about extending with Mainz, and Conceicao is likely to stay at Juventus.

Bild adds that Fofana’s price should land between 20 million and 30 million euros, which would make him a manageable option for a club expecting major income from Diomande’s sale.
