Burkina Faso goalkeeper Hervé Koffi set for Union Saint-Gilloise loan move

Union Saint-Gilloise are on the verge of completing the signing of Burkina Faso goalkeeper Hervé Koffi after reaching an agreement for the experienced shot-stopper to join the Belgian side on loan.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the deal has been finalised, leaving only the completion of administrative procedures before the move can be officially confirmed. Barring any unexpected delays, the 28-year-old will spend the season with the Belgian club.

The only remaining requirement is for Koffi to receive his work permit. Once that process has been completed, Union Saint-Gilloise will formally announce his arrival.

The club also plans to register the Burkina Faso international on its European squad list after the transfer is officially concluded.

Union Saint-Gilloise moved swiftly to secure the services of the goalkeeper despite interest from several clubs. Koffi had attracted attention from multiple teams, particularly in France, but the Belgian outfit acted decisively to gain the upper hand in negotiations.

The club’s quick approach resulted in an agreement on a loan deal that satisfied all parties, allowing Union Saint-Gilloise to move ahead of competing clubs in the race for his signature.

The transfer now appears to be entering its final stage, with only the work permit standing between the player and an official unveiling by the Belgian champions.

Koffi arrives with significant top-flight experience. During the previous campaign, the Bobo-Dioulasso-born goalkeeper kept 10 clean sheets in 27 Ligue 1 appearances, underlining the consistency that has made him one of Burkina Faso’s most reliable performers.

The goalkeeper remains under contract with Lens until 2028, but is now expected to continue his career in Belgium once the final administrative formalities are completed.

With an agreement already in place and all major aspects of the deal settled, Union Saint-Gilloise are now waiting for the final approval before confirming Koffi as their newest signing ahead of the new campaign.
