Mamadou Coulibaly: Senegal midfielder joins Foggia on free transfer from Sudtirol

Senegal midfielder Mamadou Coulibaly has joined Foggia on a free transfer from Sudtirol, signing a contract with the Serie C club until 30 June 2028. The 27-year-old central midfielder makes the move after one season in Bolzano, stepping down a division to link up with the Apulian side.

Coulibaly, born in Thies and standing at 1.87m, operates primarily as a central midfielder and is right-footed. His arrival gives Foggia significant experience in the middle of the pitch, with the player having amassed 159 Serie B appearances and 24 in Serie A during his career in Italy.

The move continues a busy few years for Coulibaly, who joined Sudtirol from Catanzaro in July 2025, also as a free agent. Before his spell in South Tyrol, he played for Salernitana following an initial loan from Udinese that was later made permanent in a €3m deal in 2022, and has also had loan stints with clubs including Ternana, Palermo, Virtus Entella, Trapani and Carpi.

Across league and cup competitions, Coulibaly has registered 12 goals and eight assists in Serie B, plus further strikes in Serie A and the Coppa Italia, underlining his ability to contribute in both defensive and attacking phases from midfield. His current market value is listed at €500,000, having previously peaked at €3m earlier in his career.

Coulibaly’s switch from Sudtirol to Foggia is a permanent free transfer, with the Senegalese midfielder now tied to the club for the next two seasons.
