Obed Asare: Ghana midfielder joins Fasano on free transfer

Ghanaian defensive midfielder Obed Asare has joined Italian side Fasano on a free transfer from Ferrandina. The 22-year-old has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Serie D – Girone H club.

Asare, who was born in Cape Coast and stands at 1.75m, arrives with recent experience in the same division, having featured prominently last season. A right-footed holding midfielder, he made 30 league appearances in Serie D – Girone H, adding one assist and playing 2,565 minutes, as well as three outings in the Coppa Italia Serie D.

The move marks a step up in profile for Asare after three years in Italian lower-league football. He first linked up with Ferrandina in August 2023 on a free transfer and developed into a regular starter in front of the back four. His performances across league and cup helped raise his market value to around €75,000.

Fasano’s decision to secure Asare without a transfer fee underlines the club’s focus on players already adapted to Italian football and with proven durability over a full campaign. His ability to anchor midfield and protect the defence offers the Puglian side another option as they prepare for the new Serie D season.

Asare’s switch from Ferrandina to Fasano was completed on 30 July 2026, confirming his permanent move within the Italian fourth tier.
