Obed Asare: Ghana midfielder joins Fasano on free transfer from Ferrandina

Ghanaian defensive midfielder Obed Asare has joined Italian club Fasano on a free transfer from Ferrandina. The 22-year-old has signed a deal running until 30 June 2027 with the Serie D – Girone H side.

Asare arrives at Fasano after establishing himself as a regular at Ferrandina, where he moved in 2023. The Cape Coast-born midfielder is valued at around €75,000 and typically operates in a holding role in front of the defence.

Last season Asare was a key figure for Ferrandina, featuring 30 times in the league and adding one assist, while also making three appearances in the Coppa Italia Serie D. He accumulated more than 2,800 minutes of competitive football across the campaign, underlining his status as a consistent starter.

Standing at 1.75m and predominantly right-footed, Asare will add depth and competition in defensive midfield for Fasano as they prepare for the new Serie D campaign. His move also continues his progression in Italian football after arriving at Ferrandina on a free transfer in August 2023.

Born on 2 May 2004, Asare moves to Puglia at the highest market valuation of his career to date and will now look to secure a place in Fasano’s starting XI over the course of his one-year stay.

Asare’s switch from Ferrandina to Fasano was completed on 30 July 2026 as a free transfer.
