Ahmed Said: Egyptian midfielder joins El Sekka SC on free transfer

Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Said has joined El Sekka SC on a free transfer after a short spell without a club.

The 29-year-old central midfielder, who is comfortable using either foot, has signed for the Cairo side following his departure from El Mahalla earlier in the year. He had been unattached since January after leaving El Mahalla, whom he joined last summer from Bank El Ahly on a free transfer.

Said arrives at El Sekka with considerable domestic experience, having made 161 appearances in the Egyptian Premier League. Operating primarily in central midfield, he has scored 10 league goals and contributed three assists, amassing more than 10,000 minutes of top-flight action. He has also featured in both the Egypt Cup and the Egyptian League Cup during his career.

The 1.83m midfielder first broke into senior football at Wadi Degla, stepping up from their U21 side in 2018. In 2021 he moved to Bank El Ahly for a reported €456,000 fee, a spell which helped establish him as a regular figure in the league before subsequent switches to El Mahalla and now El Sekka SC.

Said joins El Sekka El Hadid SC with a current estimated market value of €50,000 and will strengthen the club’s options in the centre of the pitch following his free-agent move.
