Chigozie Ani: Nigerian striker joins Flamurtari FC on free transfer from KF Trepca

Nigerian centre-forward Chigozie Ani has joined Albanian side Flamurtari FC on a free transfer from KF Trepca.

The 22-year-old, who stands at 1.88m and can use both feet, moves to the Kategoria e Pare club after leaving Kosovo outfit Trepca at the end of July. The deal was completed on 30 July, with Ani becoming the latest attacking addition to the Vlore-based team.

Ani arrives at Flamurtari with experience in both European and African leagues despite his age. Before his spell in Kosovo with Trepca, he played in the Czech Republic for Motorlet Prague, having moved there from Nigerian side Dakkada FC in early 2023, also on a free transfer.

Across his senior career so far, Ani has featured in domestic league and cup competitions in Nigeria, the Czech Republic and Kosovo, recording 11 league appearances and three goals in one top-flight campaign, alongside further minutes in cup competitions. His versatility in attack as a central striker offers Flamurtari an additional option through the middle.

Ani, born on 17 January 2004, links up with his new teammates immediately as Flamurtari prepare for the forthcoming Kategoria e Pare season. The move marks his first spell in Albanian football and his third consecutive free transfer in Europe.

The transfer sees Ani officially swap KF Trepca for Flamurtari FC on a permanent free move ahead of the 2026–27 campaign.
