Nabil Bentaleb explains Lille contract extension
Nabil Bentaleb has explained why he chose to extend his stay at Lille, saying the move felt natural for both his career and the club’s direction.
The Algerian midfielder, who was free after June 30, has now committed to the Ligue 1 side until June 2028.
In comments released by Lille, Bentaleb said he was happy to continue his journey at the club and felt strongly that the project matched his own ambitions. He also pointed to the support he received at Lille, describing the club as the place that gave him the chance to keep playing at the highest level.
His decision comes at a time when stability matters for both player and club. Bentaleb said he is proud to remain in the north of France and is eager to return to training under the new coaching staff. That sense of renewed motivation was clear in his words, as he admitted he is already looking forward to getting back with the squad.
The extension gives Lille an experienced midfield option for the years ahead.
According to Transfermarkt, Bentaleb’s current market value is 4,500,000 million euros.
