Antoine Semenyo hails Enzo Maresca

Ghana international Antoine Semenyo believes current Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca possess similar qualities with highly-profiled Spanish tactician Pep Guardiola.

The Black Stars attacker is set to work under Maresca in the upcoming campaign following the departure of Guardiola, who signed him during the January transfer window.

However, the highly-rated Ghanaian forward has expressed admiration to Maresca’s coaching methods, while drawing similarities with the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich’s manager.

“Very good, very detailed,” Semenyo said when asked about Maresca’s training sessions, as quoted by Manchester City’s official website.

“He’s got an eye for detail and he wants everything to be right, which is quite similar to Pep. That’s good for us as players so we’ve enjoyed it so far.”

Maresca built a reputation as one of Europe’s brightest young coaches during his time working under Guardiola and later leading Leicester City to Premier League return.

For Semenyo, the transition has been particularly encouraging. The Black Stars attacker has continued to establish himself as an important figure since arriving during the second half of the 2025/26 Premier League season.

Since joining Manchester City midway through last season, Semenyo has featured in 27 matches across all competitions, scoring 11 goals and contributing significantly to the club’s attacking output.

With Manchester City’s pre-season programme entering a crucial phase, Semenyo and his teammates will be looking to translate Maresca’s detailed coaching methods into strong performances on the pitch.

The upcoming clash against Inter Milan offers another opportunity for the squad to fine-tune their preparations and continue adapting to the manager’s tactical demands ahead of what promises to be an important season.
