Riyad Mahrez: Algeria winger linked with Al-Qadsiah return to Saudi Pro League

Riyad Mahrez, the Algeria international currently without a club after leaving Al-Ahli, is being linked with a move to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah. The 35-year-old right winger, who also holds French nationality, is a free agent following his departure earlier this month and is understood to be attracting interest from the newly promoted club as they look to add experience in wide areas.

Mahrez’s availability on a free transfer is viewed as a potential opportunity for Al-Qadsiah, with the former Manchester City forward still carrying an estimated market value of around €5m. A move would mark a swift return to Saudi Arabia for the left-footed attacker, who spent three seasons in the league with Al-Ahli after joining from City in 2023.

During his time in the Saudi Pro League, Mahrez made 90 appearances, scoring 23 goals and providing 35 assists, while also impressing in continental competition. He helped Al-Ahli win back-to-back AFC Champions League titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26 and lifted the Saudi Super Cup in 2025-26, underlining his continued impact at the highest level.

Despite being in the latter stages of his career, Mahrez has remained influential on the international stage. At the 2026 World Cup he featured in all four of Algeria’s matches, contributing two goals and one assist and being involved in 60% of his side’s goals at the tournament.

Mahrez officially became a free agent on 4 July 2026 after his contract with Al-Ahli ended, leaving him free to negotiate directly with interested clubs as he weighs up his next move.
