Ethan Nwaneri: Everton eye move for Arsenal and England U21 midfielder

Ethan Nwaneri, the England and Nigeria-eligible attacking midfielder currently at Arsenal, has emerged as a transfer target for Premier League rivals Everton. The 19-year-old, who wears the No 22 shirt at the Emirates, is being monitored by the Merseyside club as they assess creative options for the coming seasons.

Nwaneri is under contract at Arsenal until 30 June 2030, meaning any deal would require Everton to pay a significant fee. He is currently valued at around €35m, and Arsenal are under no pressure to sell a player tied to such a long-term agreement.

The London-born midfielder enjoyed his first sustained spell of senior action with Arsenal after stepping up from the club’s academy structure in 2024. He has made 34 Premier League appearances for the Gunners, scoring four goals and registering two assists, as well as gaining Champions League experience. Arsenal also sent him on loan to Marseille in the 2025–26 season, where he featured in Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France before returning to north London at the end of the campaign.

Nwaneri’s rise has coincided with major team success. He was part of the Arsenal squad crowned English champions in 2025–26 and also lifted the European Under-21 Championship with England U21s in 2025, further enhancing his reputation at club and international level.

Having only joined the first-team set-up in 2024 and now firmly established in Arsenal’s senior squad, Nwaneri remains a key long-term asset for the Premier League champions, and his current deal keeps him at the club well beyond the end of the decade.
