Ivorian winger Yan Diomande waits as Real Madrid and Leipzig continue talks

Real Madrid are still pushing to complete the signing of Ivory Coast winger Yann Diomande, with negotiations with RB Leipzig continuing despite the two clubs failing to reach a final agreement.

According to Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, fresh discussions took place on Wednesday, although a breakthrough has yet to be achieved.

“There is still no final agreement between Real Madrid and Leipzig regarding Yann Diomande, after new negotiations today.”

Plettenberg added: “This has been confirmed by all parties involved. Unless something extraordinary happens before midnight, negotiations will continue tomorrow morning.”

Despite the delay, Madrid remain determined to finalise the transfer before the end of the week.

Diomande carefully managed amid transfer talks

The uncertainty surrounding the deal has not stopped Diomande from training with Leipzig, although the Bundesliga club is reportedly taking extra precautions to avoid any setbacks.

“The deal is still on. Diomande was also in Leipzig today, where he underwent training with a managed physical load to avoid jeopardising the deal. Real Madrid is pushing to complete the deal this week.”

The decision to reduce the 19-year-old’s workload highlights the confidence within both camps that an agreement can still be reached in the coming days.

Europe’s elite monitoring Ivorian talent

Diomande has emerged as one of Africa’s brightest young prospects after impressing during his first season in Germany following his move from Spanish side Leganes in the summer of 2025.

The winger’s performances have attracted interest from several of Europe’s top clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain also reportedly in the race for his signature.

Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester City have also been linked with the Ivory Coast international, although Real Madrid currently appear to be leading the chase.

With negotiations set to resume, the Spanish giants will hope to fend off competition and secure the signing of one of African football’s most exciting young talents.
