Xhosa Manyana: South African midfielder joins Hope FC from Cape Town City in completed move

South African defensive midfielder Xhosa Manyana has joined Hope FC from Cape Town City, completing a move that takes the 20-year-old into the next phase of his senior career.

Manyana, who was born on 9 January 2006, arrives at Hope FC after a series of spells that have already given him experience in both domestic and overseas competitions. He had been on the books of Cape Town City, where he progressed through the club’s youth and reserve structure before breaking into the senior picture and heading out on loan.

In the 2024-25 campaign, Manyana gained valuable minutes in the United States with Cincinnati 2 in MLS Next Pro, making eight appearances and featuring once in the US Open Cup. Those outings added to his development in the holding midfield role, with his time in North America followed by a return to South Africa.

During the 2025-26 season he rejoined Cape Town City after his loan with Cincinnati 2 ended, before heading out again on a temporary deal to Kaizer Chiefs II in January 2026. He then went back to Cape Town City at the end of that loan spell ahead of this latest transfer.

Manyana originally came through the system at Cape Town City’s youth side before stepping up to CT C FC Reserves and then into the senior ranks, building a pathway that has now led to his move to Hope FC.

The deal, completed on 30 July 2026, sees Manyana leave Cape Town City to become a Hope FC player on a confirmed transfer.
