Txema Indias backs Yan Diomande ahead of Real Madrid move
Yan Diomande is drawing strong backing from people who know his path well, and former Leganes sporting director Txema Indias believes the winger has the right mix of talent and mentality to thrive at Real Madrid.
Indias helped bring Diomande to Spain and watched him develop from a little-known teenager into one of the most talked-about young attackers in Europe.
The player’s rise was not smooth. Visa problems delayed his debut for months, but Indias says that setback only made Diomande more determined. He now sees a forward who can create danger from both wings, with goals being the standout part of his profile.
“Diomande has goals, that’s the most valuable thing in football,” Indias said. “He can score from either wing and I believe he has even more potential than he has shown so far.”
Indias also noted that Diomande is most comfortable on the left, where he can drive inside onto his stronger foot and still bring pace and imagination. Real Madrid are reportedly close to finishing the deal after his strong Bundesliga form and performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Indias believes the winger would arrive not just as a gifted attacker, but as a grounded professional ready for the pressure of the Santiago Bernabeu.
