Sorba Thomas: Stoke City and Wales winger linked with Genoa move

Sorba Thomas, the Wales international winger at Stoke City, is attracting interest from Serie A side Genoa over a potential move from the Championship club. The 27-year-old, who also holds Sierra Leone nationality, is being monitored by the Italian outfit as they assess wide attacking options ahead of the new campaign.

Thomas is currently under contract at Stoke until 30 June 2028, having joined the club on 1 July 2025 from Huddersfield Town. Any approach from Genoa would therefore be expected to require a substantial fee, with the left winger’s market value recently assessed at around €14m.

The London-born attacker, who wears the number 7 shirt at Stoke, has built a strong reputation in the Championship, making 176 appearances in the division with 17 goals and 42 assists. His consistency in England’s second tier has made him a notable figure for recruitment departments looking for proven end product from wide areas.

Thomas has also experienced top-flight football on the continent, spending the 2024-25 season on loan at Ligue 1 club Nantes from Huddersfield before returning to England. That spell in France, combined with his extensive Championship record, is understood to have added to his appeal for Genoa as they consider reinforcing their attacking options from abroad.

For now, Thomas remains a key part of Stoke’s squad and is tied to the club for another two seasons beyond the coming campaign, leaving the Championship side in a strong position should Genoa step up their interest.
