Joseph Liteta: Cagliari’s Zambia midfielder linked with Arezzo move in Serie B switch
Zambia midfielder Joseph Liteta of Cagliari is being linked with a move to Serie B side Arezzo as the second-tier club explore options to strengthen their midfield before the new campaign. The 20-year-old central midfielder, who wears No 27 for the Sardinian club, is under contract at Cagliari until 30 June 2030, meaning any deal is expected to require a fee rather than a free transfer.
Liteta’s name has emerged on Arezzo’s shortlist after a season in which he moved from Cagliari’s youth ranks into the first-team picture and gained initial experience in Serie A. He made four top-flight appearances for Cagliari last term, adding senior minutes to an extensive spell at Primavera level.
Cagliari promoted Liteta from their Under-20 side in October 2025, having signed him from Zambian club Atletico Lusaka in August 2024. His progress in the Primavera set-up included 44 league appearances in the youth top flight and a Coppa Italia Primavera triumph with Cagliari’s academy side in 2024-25, an achievement that helped bring him to wider attention.
Arezzo, preparing for life in Serie B, are monitoring the situation as they look to add depth in central midfield, while Cagliari must weigh the prospect of a sale against Liteta’s long-term deal and current valuation of around €3.5 million. With the player tied down for four more years, Cagliari are under no pressure to move him on, leaving the focus on whether Arezzo are prepared to meet the expectations of the Serie A club.
