Famoussa Kanoute: Malian midfielder joins Arandina on free transfer from CD Mostoles
Arandina have added Mali midfielder Famoussa Kanoute to their squad, signing the central midfielder on a free transfer from CD Mostoles. The 28-year-old has agreed a deal running until 30 June 2027 after his contract with the Madrid-based club came to an end.
Kanoute, born in Bamako and right-footed, arrives with extensive experience in Spain’s lower divisions and a reputation as a durable presence in central midfield. He has amassed more than 90 appearances across the Segunda Federacion, including over 3,200 minutes in Group III and a further 2,400 minutes in Group II, underlining his status as a regular starter at that level.
The move to Arandina continues a Spanish journey that has taken Kanoute through a string of clubs over the past decade. After time at the Aspire Academy, he moved into Deportivo La Coruna’s youth ranks, stepping up from the under-19s to Depor Fabril before spells with Laracha and Formentera.
Subsequent free transfers led him to CD Tudelano, Bergantinos FC and Alzira, with Kanoute switching to CD Mostoles in 2025, again without a transfer fee. He also has Copa del Rey experience, having featured in the competition earlier in his career.
Standing at 1.83m and operating primarily as a central midfielder, Kanoute is expected to add height and experience in the middle of the pitch as Arandina shape their squad for the new campaign. His signing is confirmed as a permanent free transfer from CD Mostoles, with his contract at Arandina set to expire in June 2027.
