Filippo Mane injury scare eased as Borussia Dortmund give all clear

Borussia Dortmund have moved quickly to reassure fans after Filippo Mane was forced off early in Wednesday’s friendly against Cerezo Osaka.

The young defender ended the game prematurely, clutching the back of his thigh, which initially raised fears of a muscle injury.

Soon after the final whistle, coach Niko Kovac explained that the substitution was purely precautionary and not the result of a serious problem. As the club reported on its official website, medical checks showed no significant damage, easing concerns about a longer absence. Mane had simply felt something and chose not to take risks in a match that is ultimately part of pre-season preparation.

Kovač summed up the situation clearly: “Substituting Filippo Mane was a precautionary measure. He came off because he thought something might happen, and that was the right thing to do.” The message is that both player and staff acted sensibly, prioritising his health over a few extra minutes on the pitch.

BVB now expect Mane to be back with the squad very soon, with no long-term impact on his pre-season. For Dortmund, it is a welcome bit of good news in a period where fitness and rhythm are key.
