Nobel Mendy: Hull City eye move for Rayo Vallecano centre-back

Senegal- and Guinea-Bissau-qualified defender Nobel Mendy of Rayo Vallecano is being linked with a move to Premier League side Hull City as the English club assess options at centre-back. The 21-year-old, who joined Rayo permanently this summer, is under contract with the LaLiga outfit until 30 June 2030.

Mendy, a left-footed central defender born in Guediawaye, moved to Vallecas on loan from Real Betis in August 2025 before the deal was made permanent for around €3.5m at the start of the 2026–27 season. His current market valuation stands at €7.5m, a figure that is expected to form a reference point in any negotiations.

The defender has already accumulated regular top-flight experience in Spain, making 26 LaLiga appearances and scoring twice, building on earlier spells in the French system with Paris FC and its youth and reserve teams. He has also featured in domestic cup competitions and European fixtures, including appearances in the Conference League.

Hull’s interest comes at a time when Rayo have secured Mendy on a long-term deal, leaving the Spanish club in a strong position should any formal bid arrive. With no release clause figure publicly indicated and four years remaining on his contract, Rayo are not under pressure to sell as they prepare for the new LaLiga campaign.
