Yassir Zabiri: Morocco forward at Stade Rennais linked with Racing move in LaLiga switch

Morocco centre-forward Yassir Zabiri of Stade Rennais is being linked with a move to LaLiga side Racing, with the Spanish club monitoring the 21-year-old’s situation despite his long-term contract in France. Initial indications are that Racing are exploring a deal for the left-footed striker after a rapid rise over the past two seasons.

Zabiri only joined Rennes from Famalicao in February 2026 in a transfer worth €10 million and is under contract at Roazhon Park until June 2029, a commitment that would likely require Racing to negotiate a substantial fee. His current market valuation is €9 million, reflecting his swift increase in profile since leaving Moroccan football.

Born in Marrakech in February 2005, Zabiri has already experienced three leagues by the age of 21. He first moved to Europe with Famalicao in August 2024 after a spell at Union Touarga, and his form in Portugal accelerated his move to Ligue 1 earlier this year.

Racing’s interest comes after Zabiri’s impact in senior football and on the international stage. He was a standout for Morocco at the 2025 Under-20 World Cup, finishing as tournament top scorer with five goals as his country lifted the title. At club level, he produced five goals in 17 Liga Portugal appearances for Famalicao before heading to France, as well as further strikes in domestic cup action.

Zabiri has so far been used sparingly in Ligue 1, recording six appearances for Rennes, and any negotiations are expected to take into account both his recent transfer fee and the three years remaining on his current deal.
