Pape Diouf, the former football executive and the first black person to manage a professional football club in Europe, was awarded the Legion of Honor by the President of the French Republic, François Hollande. This prestigious decoration recognizes Diouf’s outstanding contributions in the service of the nation. During his career, Pape Diouf notably managed Marseille from 2005 to 2009 and has been an influential figure in the world of football.
The Legion of Honor was also conferred upon Olympic athletics champion Marie-Josée Pérec and journalist Jacques Vendroux during the ceremony at the Elysée Palace.
