Nathan Fuakala: France-Congo defender joins US Hostert on free transfer from Rot-Weiß Erfurt

France-Congo centre-back Nathan Fuakala has joined Luxembourg side US Hostert on a free transfer from German club Rot-Weiß Erfurt.

The 25-year-old defender, born in Roubaix and standing at 1.86m, moves to the BGL Ligue after a spell in Germany’s Regionalliga Nordost. The deal sees Fuakala leave Erfurt at the end of his stint there to continue his career in Luxembourg, with the transfer completed without a fee.

Fuakala, a right-footed central defender, arrived at Rot-Weiß Erfurt during the 2025-26 campaign after a brief period without a club. His move to Germany followed a sequence of short-term stops that have taken him across Belgium and France as he has built his senior career.

Before heading to Erfurt, Fuakala played for Belgian sides RFC Tournai and KMSK Deinze, having first joined Deinze on a free transfer in 2021. During his time there he also spent a loan spell with Francs Borains in the 2022-23 season, with that move later ending and the defender returning to Deinze.

Fuakala’s early development came in France with Valenciennes, progressing from the youth ranks into the U17s, before a switch to FC Brugge’s U21 set-up in 2018. He later moved into senior football in Belgium and has since accumulated experience in different leagues and environments.

US Hostert have now added Fuakala to their squad as a permanent signing, with the defender making the switch to the BGL Ligue as a free agent from Rot-Weiß Erfurt.
