Mohamed Ihattaren: Fortuna Sittard playmaker linked with Eredivisie switch to FC Twente

Morocco–Netherlands attacking midfielder Mohamed Ihattaren of Fortuna Sittard is being linked with a move to FC Twente as the Enschede club explore options to strengthen their creative department ahead of the new campaign.

Ihattaren, 24, is under contract at Fortuna until 30 June 2027, meaning any deal would require Twente to negotiate a transfer fee rather than target a free move next summer. The former PSV Eindhoven talent currently carries an estimated value of around €3 million, a figure that is likely to shape the opening stages of any discussions between the clubs.

The left-footed playmaker only joined Fortuna last summer from RKC Waalwijk for a reported €100,000 fee and has since re-established himself in the Eredivisie after a series of moves across Europe. His top-flight record in the Dutch league stands at 108 appearances with 16 goals and 23 assists, underlining the domestic experience Twente are aiming to add.

Born in Utrecht and eligible for both Morocco and the Netherlands, Ihattaren enjoyed early success with the Dutch national youth teams, including winning the European Under-17 Championship in 2018. His career has also taken him to Juventus, Ajax and clubs in Turkey and the Czech Republic, but his recent resurgence in Sittard has revived interest from higher up the Eredivisie table.

For now, Ihattaren remains a Fortuna player preparing for the new season, with his long-term deal giving the Limburg club a strong position should formal offers from Twente or other suitors emerge.
