Mohamed Salah: Egypt forward linked with surprise Trabzonspor move

Mohamed Salah, the Egypt forward currently without a club after leaving Liverpool, has been linked with a surprise move to Turkish side Trabzonspor in the Super Lig. The 34-year-old right winger is rated at around €22m, with the chances of a deal currently being assessed at about 30%.

Salah became a free agent on 1 July 2026 after a glittering spell at Anfield, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most prolific attackers. He scored 193 league goals in 328 appearances and added 95 assists, averaging a goal roughly every 139 minutes in the competition.

Trabzonspor are understood to be exploring the possibility of bringing in Salah as a marquee signing, with his availability on a free transfer making any move more about wages and contract length than a fee. Interest comes on the back of another productive campaign, with Salah featuring prominently for Egypt at the 2026 World Cup, where he started every game and contributed one goal and two assists across five matches.

A move to Turkey would add a new chapter to a career that has already taken in major honours across Europe. Salah is a former UEFA Champions League winner with Liverpool and has been named African Footballer of the Year twice. He also finished as the Premier League’s top scorer on five occasions, including a 29-goal haul in the 2024–25 season.

For now, Salah remains unattached and free to negotiate with suitors, leaving Trabzonspor among the clubs weighing up whether to turn tentative interest into a formal offer.
