Bournemouth reject Barcelona bids for French-Ivorian striker Éli Junior Kroupi

Bournemouth have reportedly rejected two offers from Barcelona for French striker of Ivorian descent, Éli Junior Kroupi, with the Premier League club determined to keep hold of one of their brightest young talents.

According to L’Équipe, the combined value of the two bids fell short of €100 million, prompting Bournemouth to dismiss both approaches as Barcelona continue their search for attacking reinforcements.

Barcelona identify Kroupi as alternative option

The Catalan giants are said to view Kroupi as an alternative target should they fail to complete a move for Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez.

The 20-year-old, who is under contract at Bournemouth until 2030, has reportedly welcomed Barcelona’s interest and is understood to have informed his representatives of his desire to join the Spanish champions.

Bournemouth reluctant to sell

Despite the player’s reported interest in a move, Bournemouth have maintained their stance that Kroupi is not for sale.

Club officials are believed to have made it clear on several occasions that they have no intention of allowing the former Lorient striker to leave during the current transfer window.

However, the report suggests the situation could still evolve if Barcelona return with a significantly improved offer.

Impressive debut season attracts attention

Kroupi has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most promising young forwards after an outstanding first season with Bournemouth.

The Frenchman scored 13 league goals in 33 appearances, performances that have attracted interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

For now, Bournemouth remain firm in their position, but Barcelona may test that resolve again if they decide to increase their offer before the transfer window closes.
