Youssef Chermiti: Rangers and Portugal-Tunisia striker linked with Porto move

Youssef Chermiti, the Portugal-Tunisia centre-forward currently at Rangers, is being linked with a summer move to Porto as the Liga Portugal side assess options to strengthen their attack. The 22-year-old, whose contract at Ibrox runs until 30 June 2029, is understood to be attracting interest after an impressive first full campaign in Scotland.

Chermiti has emerged as a key part of Rangers’ frontline in the Premiership, scoring 11 goals and providing three assists in 25 league appearances, including four goals in five matches during the Scottish Premiership top-six split. His form has raised his estimated value to around €15m and put him back on the radar of leading clubs in his homeland.

Born in Santa Maria in the Azores and standing at 1.92m, Chermiti came through the ranks at Sporting before earning a move to Everton in 2023. After limited minutes in the Premier League, he joined Rangers on 1 September 2025 in a deal worth €8.6m, where regular game time has underpinned his sharp upturn in output.

Porto’s interest is thought to be driven by both his recent scoring record and his familiarity with Portuguese football, having previously featured in Liga Portugal with Sporting’s first team. Any approach is likely to be complicated by the length of his current deal at Rangers and the Scottish club’s investment in him less than a year ago.

For now, Chermiti remains Rangers’ number nine and one of the most prominent attacking assets tied to the club for the long term.
