Yan Valery: Millwall eye move for Sheffield Wednesday and Tunisia right-back

Yan Valery, the Tunisia international defender currently at Sheffield Wednesday, is the subject of transfer interest from Championship side Millwall. The 27-year-old right-back is being monitored ahead of a potential move from League One back to the second tier this summer.

Valery returned to Hillsborough at the end of last season after a loan spell with Swiss club Young Boys, and remains under contract with Wednesday until 30 June 2027. Millwall are exploring the possibility of a deal for the former Southampton player, whose current market valuation stands at around €1.5 million, as they look to strengthen on the right side of their defence.

Born in Champigny-sur-Marne and eligible for both Tunisia and France, Valery has built up significant experience in English football, making 69 Championship appearances and featuring 43 times in the Premier League earlier in his career. His background also includes regular football in France’s top two divisions and in Switzerland’s Super League.

Sheffield Wednesday signed Valery from Angers in July 2024 for a fee in the region of €474,000, with the long-term contract reflecting their intent to make him a key part of their back line. He has since enhanced his reputation on the international stage, starting all three of Tunisia’s matches at the 2026 World Cup and playing the majority of available minutes.

With Valery tied to Wednesday for another year beyond this season, any move would likely require Millwall to negotiate a fee that reflects both his contractual status and his experience across the Premier League, Championship and international football.
