PSG launch late bid to hijack Real Madrid’s move for Ivorian teenager Yan Diomande

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly preparing a late attempt to hijack Real Madrid’s proposed move for Côte d’Ivoire winger Yann Diomande after negotiations between the Spanish club and RB Leipzig failed to reach a conclusion.

The 19-year-old has already agreed personal terms with Real Madrid, according to French newspaper L’Equipe, but a final agreement between the two clubs has yet to be completed, leaving the door open for the European champions to make a renewed approach.

Madrid yet to seal Diomande deal

Reports indicate that Diomande has agreed to a five-year contract with Real Madrid in a deal believed to be worth between €50 million and €55 million.

However, with negotiations between Madrid and Leipzig still ongoing, the Ivorian winger remained with the Bundesliga side for training on Tuesday rather than completing a transfer.

The delay has reportedly encouraged Paris Saint-Germain to reassess their position in the race for one of Europe’s most highly rated young attackers.

PSG sense opportunity

According to L’Equipe, PSG’s renewed interest has gathered momentum as uncertainty grows over Bradley Barcola’s future, with the France international increasingly linked with a move to Liverpool.

The French champions are also said to believe Diomande remains attracted to the prospect of joining the club. The report claims several members of the player’s family support PSG, while the opportunity to work under head coach Luis Enrique is another factor that appeals to the teenager.

The publication added that interest from multiple clubs has driven up Diomande’s valuation in recent days.

New intermediaries enter negotiations

L’Equipe also reports that new intermediaries with close ties to PSG have recently become involved in an effort to revive the French club’s pursuit.

Their involvement has fuelled speculation that PSG could launch one final attempt to convince both Leipzig and the player before Real Madrid complete the transfer.

Despite the renewed interest from Paris, no agreement has been reached, and Real Madrid remain in a strong position to secure the signature of the Côte d’Ivoire international if they can finalise terms with the German club.
