Aboubacar Sidibe: Mali midfielder joins Licata after spell as free agent
Mali midfielder Aboubacar Sidibe has joined Italian Serie D side Licata on a deal running until 30 June 2027. The 26-year-old central midfielder arrives as a free agent after leaving Ischia earlier in 2026.
Sidibe, a right-footed central midfielder standing at 1.75m, strengthens Licata’s options in the middle of the pitch ahead of the new campaign. The move marks a return to familiar surroundings for the Malian, who has spent his senior career in the Italian lower leagues.
Before his spell without a club, Sidibe featured for Ischia in the 2025-26 season, having joined them from Sancataldese on a free transfer in October 2025. He had previously moved to Sancataldese from Canicatti in July 2024, where his market value had reached a reported peak of €150,000.
Over the course of his career in Italy, Sidibe has built up extensive Serie D experience, making 114 appearances in the division and scoring nine goals, as well as contributing in the Coppa Italia Serie D with further appearances, a goal and an assist. He has also had brief involvement in the Coppa Serie C and promotion-relegation playoffs at that level.
Having first emerged in senior football with Sicula Leonzio’s youth setup, Sidibe gained further experience during loan spells with Acireale and Marina Ragusa before establishing himself as a regular in Serie D.
Sidibe’s move to Licata is a permanent transfer and keeps him tied to the club until the end of the 2026-27 season.
