Morocco’s Brahim Diaz back on Juventus radar as Italian giants explore move

Juventus have revived their interest in Morocco international Brahim Diaz, with the Serie A club reportedly considering a move for the Real Madrid attacker during the summer transfer window.

Italian newspaper Tuttosport reports that Juventus chief football officer Frederic Massara has reopened discussions internally over Diaz, having worked closely with the Moroccan during his previous spell at AC Milan.

Massara reunion could fuel Juventus move

Massara, who was appointed Juventus’ chief football officer on 7 July, is overseeing the club’s men’s football operations alongside sporting director Marco Ottolini.

The Italian executive is well acquainted with Diaz after the playmaker spent three seasons on loan at AC Milan between 2020 and 2023. During that period, the Moroccan established himself as a key figure for the Rossoneri and helped them lift the Serie A title in the 2021-22 campaign before returning to Real Madrid.

His familiarity with Italian football is believed to make him an attractive option as Juventus seek to strengthen their attacking options.

Competition growing at Real Madrid

Juventus are understood to believe Diaz could face increased competition for minutes at Real Madrid as the Spanish giants continue to strengthen their squad.

Madrid remain in talks with RB Leipzig over a potential move for Côte d’Ivoire winger Yan Diomande, although no agreement has been reached and the Bundesliga club’s valuation remains a stumbling block.

However, the possible arrival of another attacker does not necessarily indicate that Real Madrid are prepared to part ways with Diaz.

The 26-year-old continues to feature as a first-team player and reached two significant milestones last season, making his 150th appearance for the club in March before recording his 100th La Liga appearance the following month.

Loan deal among possible options

Juventus could explore a loan move similar to the arrangement that previously brought Diaz to Milan. However, current FIFA regulations restrict international loans to a maximum of one year, meaning any longer-term agreement would require a different structure.

At this stage, the reported interest has not progressed into formal negotiations, and neither club has announced talks over a transfer. Diaz has also given no public indication that he is seeking to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.

While his experience in Serie A could make a return to Italy an appealing option, any move will depend on Real Madrid’s valuation, the transfer structure proposed by Juventus and the player’s willingness to embark on another spell in Italian football.
