Samuca: Trofense sign Sao Tome and Principe–Portugal left-back from Estrela U23

Trofense have signed Sao Tome and Principe–Portugal defender Samuca from Estrela U23, with the left-back moving to the Liga 3 side on 28 July 2026.

The 20-year-old, who can operate at left-back and is left-footed, has agreed a contract with the club running until 30 June 2027. He joins from Estrela’s under-23 set-up in Portugal’s Liga New Gen, stepping into senior league football with the historic Trofa-based team.

Born in Loures on 8 June 2006, Samuca holds dual nationality with Sao Tome and Principe and Portugal. Standing at 1.82m, he adds height and physical presence on the flank as Trofense reshape their defensive options ahead of the new campaign.

His move from Estrela U23 marks a significant step in his career pathway, with the defender leaving age-group competition to establish himself in a senior professional environment. Trofense will look to integrate him into a back line competing in the third tier of Portuguese football, with his contract offering the club at least one full season of continuity on the left side of defence.

The agreement sees Samuca formally registered as a Trofense player from 28 July 2026, with his deal in place until the end of June 2027.
