FUS Rabat appoint Portuguese coach Ricardo Formosinho on two-year deal

Moroccan club Fath Union Sport (FUS) Rabat have officially announced the appointment of Portuguese tactician Ricardo Formosinho as the new head coach of their first team.

The experienced coach has signed a two-year contract with the club and will take charge of the team ahead of the upcoming season, as FUS look to strengthen their sporting project and compete at the highest level.

In an official statement, the Rabat-based club confirmed that the decision to bring in Formosinho forms part of a wider strategy aimed at improving the team’s technical performance, enhancing competitiveness and achieving the club’s ambitions in domestic and continental competitions.

“FUS Rabat is pleased to announce the appointment of Portuguese coach Ricardo Formosinho to lead the first team’s technical staff for the next two seasons,” the club stated, highlighting his experience and knowledge of international football.

Formosinho arrives with a wealth of coaching experience gained across Europe, Africa, Asia and America. Throughout his career, he has worked both as a head coach and assistant coach at several clubs, gaining valuable experience in different football environments.

The Portuguese coach is also known for his close association with compatriot José Mourinho, having served as part of Mourinho’s technical staff at some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Fenerbahçe.

His time alongside Mourinho exposed him to elite-level football management, tactical preparation and the demands of competing in major leagues and international competitions.

Beyond his work in Europe, Formosinho has built a diverse coaching profile through his experiences in Morocco and other parts of Africa, as well as in Asia and the Americas. FUS officials believe his international background will bring additional technical expertise and a fresh approach to the team.

The club hopes that Formosinho’s arrival will help develop the squad, improve performances and guide FUS Rabat towards achieving their objectives in the new campaign.

With a reputation for tactical organisation and experience in different football cultures, the Portuguese coach now begins a new challenge as he looks to make his mark in Moroccan football.
