Gift Links signs contract extension with AGF

South African-born winger Gift Links has ended speculation over his future by signing a new long-term contract with Danish champions AGF, committing himself to the club until 2031.

The contract extension comes after an outstanding campaign in which Links played a crucial role in helping AGF secure the Danish Superliga title. His impressive performances throughout the season established him as one of the club’s standout players and attracted interest from clubs across Europe and the United States.

Several teams from France, as well as clubs in Major League Soccer, were reported to have made enquiries about the versatile winger following his championship-winning exploits. However, despite the growing transfer interest, none of the approaches developed into a formal move.

Instead, Links has chosen to continue his journey with AGF, handing the club a major boost ahead of the new season as they prepare to defend their domestic crown and compete on the European stage.

The extension has been warmly welcomed by AGF’s hierarchy, with Football Director Carsten V. Jensen praising both the player’s quality on the pitch and his influence within the dressing room.

“Gift carries AGF’s DNA and the values that we want to be known for,” Jensen said.

“His performances on the pitch, most recently in the championship season, speak for themselves, but because of Gift’s character and personality, his importance to AGF goes beyond that.

“We are very pleased that he has chosen to extend his time at AGF with a new contract.”

Links has grown into one of AGF’s most influential players since arriving in Denmark, earning admiration for his consistency, versatility and work ethic. Whether operating as a winger, wing-back or attacking midfielder, the 26-year-old has become an indispensable figure in the squad.

His latest contract extension reflects the club’s confidence in his ability to remain a central figure in its long-term project while also rewarding the impact he has made both on and off the pitch.

For Links, the new deal represents a strong vote of confidence and an opportunity to continue building on one of the most successful periods of his career. After helping AGF lift the league title, he will now aim to guide the club to further domestic success while making an impact in European competitions over the coming seasons.

The agreement also puts an end to speculation surrounding his future, ensuring that AGF will retain one of their key performers despite significant interest from abroad. With his future now secured until 2031, Links is expected to remain at the heart of the club’s ambitions for years to come.
