Cyriaque Irie: Getafe linked with move for Freiburg winger
Cyriaque Irie, the Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast winger currently at Freiburg, has been linked with a move to LaLiga side Getafe. The 21-year-old right winger, who wears the No 22 shirt for the Bundesliga club, has emerged as a target for the Spanish outfit as they look to strengthen their wide options.
Irie, a left-footed attacker born in Vavoua on 20 June 2005, joined Freiburg on 1 July 2025 and is regarded as a first-team option on the right flank. Standing at 1.85m, he offers a different physical profile to many traditional wide players, something that is understood to appeal to Getafe as they assess potential recruits from Germany’s top flight.
The Freiburg player is currently valued at around €8 million, a figure that is expected to shape any negotiations should Getafe decide to formalise their interest. The lack of a clearly defined contract end date adds a layer of uncertainty over how high the Bundesliga side might set their asking price, with Freiburg under no obvious pressure to sell.
Irie holds nationality for both Burkina Faso and Ivory Coast, adding to his appeal as a player with international eligibility for two African federations. His emergence at Freiburg since arriving last summer has drawn attention from outside Germany, with LaLiga now a potential next step.
For now, Irie remains under contract at Freiburg, who will determine their stance on a sale if Getafe follow up their interest in the coming weeks.
